A lot of U.S. dams are not being used to their full potential

Energy Potential at Non-Powered Dams in the United States
Americans are using more energy than ever before, not just because of population growth, but also because we have so many more devices. As a result, we are always looking for more sources of energy.
The US Department of Energy through Oak Ridge National Laboratory (ORNL) commissioned The National Hydropower Asset Assessment to locate all of our potential water-based energy sources.
Here is a beautiful map that was produced by National Renewable Energy Laboratory showing all of the dams with potential to be used for electricity generation.
