Bike sharing is all the craze lately. It's not just asking your friend if you can borrow her bike. No, it's a system where you go to a bike station, get a bike and ride to another bike station close to your destination. In this way, it's a lot like buses or trains, but with a lot more calorie burning and a lot less fossil fuel burning.
One of the first bike share projects in the United States was started in Portland, Oregon in 1994 and there are now dozens of programs in the USA which are setting records for membership.
Here are 14 of the 17 cities scheduled to start bike sharing in 2013. The 3 added since this map was made are Houston B-cycle, Greenville B-cycle, and Bike Nation Anaheim. and so far, 6 more are scheduled for 2014.
